We booked with Britannia (Smeeton Panton) heckington, lincolnshire to move from Sleaford to the Isle Of Man in March 2011. All was fine (actual 'shop floor' staff very friendly and nice) and our house was packed up OK without issues.
Just before we left to catch our ferry (literally) they dropped a bombshell telling us our stuff wouldn't be with us for a week! (it was now all locked in the back of the lorry) when it was supposed to be with us the next morning.
We were basically left stranded with no clothes, furniture or anywhere to stay for days when we had paid thousands of pounds for an overseas service. We had two young children, one of whom was only 18 months at the time, both of whom had to make do with no toys, clothes, their own beds to sleep in or anything that resembled 'home' for days at a time that was unsettling and strange enough for them as it was.
The actual removal staff were gobsmacked when they realised how poor their management had organised the move despite being given clear instructions from the start (in fact they had tried to take our stuff to Dublin, Ireland initially). Our complaint isn't with the staff. The actual owners, Mr Smeeton or Mr Panton whoever it was, couldn't care less about the distress he had caused our family. He had my wife in tears on the phone and didn't care in the slightest he had effectively made us homeless for a week. Yes, we had no clothes, furniture or anywhere to stay planned as we were supposed to take delivery of our stuff the next morning and this is what we had paid several thousands of pounds for.
