As a heart specialist doctor for children with suspected or confirmed congenital heart disease I am very aware that families are best served by a rapid and accurate diagnosis together with a kind empathic approach.
Many children and adolescents are referred for assessment following the suspicion of cardiac disease but are cleared from every problem and found to be healthy. If a heart problem is found following a detailed assessment and diagnosis, an individualised care plan is created to guide further specialist care.
Many heart problems in a baby or child may be managed in the clinic without the need for interventional procedures or child heart surgery. If these are required, I am fortunate to work with an excellent team as part of my london paediatric cardiology practice at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The care plan created will provide direct access to the best paediatric interventional and cardiothoracic surgical specialist consultants in Europe.
The children I look after make complete and speedy recovery from treatment because of the great surgical skill of the surgeons used, excellent intensive care management and my meticulous post-operative paediatric cardiac care and follow up. I pride myself of paying a great of attention to detail and continuously strive to provide technical skill and knowledge in a very human and comfortable approach.
