DRA Electricals provide Portable Appliance Testing to organisations and companies all over the North East (UK); PAT Testing is recommended for the purposes of Health and Safety in the workplace to ensure electrical appliances are safe, and that any faults are found and rectified.
Considering what we said above, PAT testing frequency should be carried out often enough to protect you if an accident occurs or to prevent the accident occurring in the first place. This could be anywhere between monthly on a building site up to every 5 years for servers in an office environment; in most cases a check every couple of years will suffice. Many workplaces get testing done every year, which may not be strictly necessary but is best practice for peace of mind, ease and is preferred by insurers. It’s also the requirement for any location where equipment is used by the public (hotel rooms), children (e.g. schools), etc.
