There is often some confusion as to the difference between hypnotherapy and hypnosis itself. Well, hypnosis is induced by the use of the therapists voice and is a pleasant, safe and natural state of concentration and heightened awareness, which on its own does little more then induce a wonderful sense of relaxation – it is not a form of sleep or unconsciousness. Hypnosis is used as a tool by a qualified hypnotherapist to conduct the therapy known as hypnotherapy, which is a two way process between the therapist and the client and consists of a combination of techniques including suggestion, analytical, relaxation and visualisation. Allowing the therapist to by-pass the conscious mind and communicate directly with the clients subconscious in this way could help bring about positive and desired change.
