Company description
Knotwood uses a unique sublimation process to convert aluminium extrusions into a wood patterned product that looks and feels like real wood. The process starts with the application of a powder coat base colour on the aluminium extrusion. A photographic image of wood is then overlaid on the powder coated extrusion. The prepared extrusion is then placed into an oven. This process is called sublimation or imaging. The extrusion comes out of the oven with the imprint of the wood grain permanently transferred on to it. Currently, we have an ever evolving range of over 40 wood grain colours.
We also specialise in powder coating aluminium using the latest powder coating technology and our new automated vertical paint line.
Knotwood has designed and developed over 150 extrusions in 13 unique modular systems. The systems consist of fencing, gates, screens, cladding, soffits, ceilings, battens, pergolas & awnings, decking, balustrades, shutters and designer screens. We focus on simple systems that are stylish, versatile, durable and easy to install. Our systems are designed to conceal joins, screws, rivets and fixings. Some of the advantages of wood grain aluminium include: strong, non-combustible, corrosion resistant, stain & scratch resistant, non-porous and insect proof. All of these factors combined contribute to our competitive advantage.
