Blessed with a near perfect location in the centre of ancient Shrewsbury, the Prince Rupert Hotel is the perfect base to explore this bustling town and its many attractions. Shrewsbury is a stunning historic town with over 660 listed buildings including a Norman Abbey dating back to 1083, a medieval Castle and The Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery housed in a 16th century timber framed warehouse. All of which are just a short walk from the Prince Rupert Hotel. Part of the town's medieval street plan still exists with Shrewsbury's Shuts and Passages - a unique maze of narrow alleys, which criss-cross the town centre. Many of Shrewsbury's streets have some very strange street names including Dogpole and Mardol, Gullet Passage and Grope Lane! Shrewsbury also has great shops, especially the kind of interesting, independent shops that so many towns have lost or let go.
