To address our problems we needed a method for tracking bugs, incidents and incoming requests, i.e. we needed to automate Bug Tracker. We also wanted to highlight project direction to some degree. To develop additional, we want additional analysis of incoming information, what's happening in sections and the way it impacts the business as a whole. We must control the inner budgets within which we input or, more often than not, don't enter. They also have to be officially analyzed and managed. Of course, it is better to do all this in one system - in particular, it's suitable for the management, i.e. for me personally. That's why picking Redmine proved to be a good choice for me. It fully covered each of the requests in the time and systematized the function of the section as a whole.
When in the office I was confronted with the question of how to properly organize the work of my department, which had been in actual chaos, I decided on Redmine. This is a completely free open-source project management and bug tracking tool with support for Gantt graphs, visualizing deadlines and progress on multiple projects concurrently. Composed in Ruby on Rails, it works as a cross-platform option. The product has been in evolution since 2006. The developers of the platform do not take money from customers, but everyone is able to contribute some amount to the growth fund of the project or assist with ideas in design and development.
