The Donkey Sanctuary Ivybridge is the perfect place for animal lovers and families, providing visitors with the chance to meet our beautiful rescue donkeys and discover their unique characters.
Founded in 1969 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, The Donkey Sanctuary has grown into an international animal welfare charity that works tirelessly to protect donkeys and mules worldwide.
Our team of specially trained donkeys provides assisted therapy to hundreds of local school children with additional needs and disabilities. Sessions are tailored so each child can learn, develop and have fun in our specially designed indoor arenas. Donkey assisted therapy offers emotional and physical benefits and helps to give children a real sense of achievement.
While admission and parking is free, however, as a charity, donations are always welcome to help support our vital work. Throughout the year we host a number of exciting events and can accommodate trips for larger groups; to find out more contact Ivybridge.
