More details
- What is the minimum recommended age to start lessons?
- We feel that 5 years old is a good age to begin lessons. We begin by introducing the student to rhythm using arts & craft, and then slowly introduce real instruments.
- What is the maximum recommended age to start lessons?
- There’s no such thing. All that matters is that you enjoy the lessons.
- Do I need a drum kit?
- The first few lessons could easily be covered on a practise pad, but over time you would want to look at investing in a basic drum kit.

- If you live in close proximity to your neighbours, then we would recommend electric drums, but acoustic drums are always going to be way more fun.
- Do you have any partnerships with local drum shops?
- Not really, but we do recommend the Drums and Percussion Centre in Mayford Green, GU22 0PP.
- I’ve been playing for a while now. Do I really need lessons?
- We find that there is always aspects of our playing that could be improved. By booking a series of lessons with us, you are making an investment in that area of your playing. Spending time with one of our instructors is time well spent.
- Could I just use YouTube to learn to play the drums?
- Nothing can take the place of a student interacting face-to-face with a tutor.
- Can we still use your services if we live outside of your recommended area?
- Yes. There is a chance that we will still be able to help you. Just ping us an email and we’ll see if we’re able to help.
- Are your instructors DBS checked?
- All of our instructors have undergone an enhanced DBS check, and have completed a course on Child Protection in Education (Music), a bespoke course developed by the Musicians' Union in partnership with EduCare.
- What academic standards do you use, and what do I need to know about them?
- We use the Trinity Guildhall curriculum for all of our exams. But the overwhelming majority of students chose not to follow the grade curriculum.
- Could you teach more than one student during the same lesson?
- Multiple may share the lesson time, although space and instructor limitations can make scheduling for shared lessons difficult.
