First a brief explanation of what the vitiligo: Vitiligo is the result of the death of melanocytes, which causes skin depigmentation (particularly I think is the epidermis), leaving it unprotected. This disease does not kill, it is not contagious, does not produce further damage, but it is very ugly aesthetically.
The most important thing to minimize the effect of vitilgio is to diagonose it in its earlist stage, hence stopping it from spreading and keep alive the as many number of melanocytes as possible. And if you suffer from vitiligo, use sunscreen, because without defenses, skin burns very quickly.
