In late November my Yamaha motorbike broke down. After having a couple mechanically minded friends have a look we diagnosed that the motorbike may have a dropped valve. A neighbour of mine suggested i go to CJ's to get it fixed so on the 7/10/11 i phoned Clive owner of CJ's and he said " i will take the motorbike in the van and do a compression test for £25 and if future work needs to be done i wont start until i give you a quote" thinking this was a great deal i took it so he took the bike and told me to ring him on the weekend. i phone him Saturday he said he was closed also they were busy on other projects, i rang again Monday and they had still not completed the basic tests. on Tuesday Pam his wife claim they had a high volume of work on and would contact me. i left it until Thursday and rang them, they said that the costs for fixing the dropped valve would be over £300 to fix, so i kindly declined to have more work done as my friend said he could have a go at doing it. i said i wanted my bike back and they said it would now be £80 i said we had the prior verbal contract and he said no to that. i phoned the police and they said only a small claims court could help. i rang CJ's again and argued my case stating i rang the police and he verbally threatened me saying “ you have given my wife a lot of hassle and that I should be careful” and I said so now your threatening me he said “no”. i said i would collect the bike on Saturday so write me out an invoice he said that that wasn’t possible as they only give invoices to existing customers so I said sign me up and he hung up , and never answered my countless amounts of phone calls. on Saturday the 15th of October 2011 around 1:30pm i went into the store with a friend and spoke to Pam as Clive was on the floor fiddling with something, she said “it would now cost me £75 for £25 delivery and an hours labour at £45”, i was not happy and said that Clive said £60 on the phone he stood up and said i was being a stupid little t**t, I argued my point saying you cant treat your customers like this, and i said about our original verbal contract at £25 he said i was off my head, and told me to leave the shop, and i out right refused. He then began to try and push me out saying "who do you think you are?" i replied i am the consumer treat me with a little respect he said he would ring the police and so he apparently did, but a police officer as one would expect in full uniform and badge did not appear instead a skin head large man and another regular sized male appeared 5 to 6 minutes later, very fast response and surrounded me in the shop. i continued to arguemy case with Clive and the supposed off duty police officer and did not give into the intimidation he tried so hard to create, the supposed police officer said due to not having a written contract there was little i could do. i ended up paying the £60 for no work and half a delivery service, intimidation, physical bullying, and absolutely no customer service. And why did I take so long if he can't do the work? and if he's busy why take on more jobs???
